In 1850 Br. J. Hymen from London migrated to Australia. With the authority of the AOD England he set up the first Druids Lodge: the Enterprise Lodge in Melbourne.

The discovery of gold halted the Druid Society's development until 1861. At this time, Br. Asher Barnard from Canterbury Kent established a new UAOD Lodge in Melbourne. A Grand Lodge followed in 1867. The society began to flourish.

Druid History in Australia

Throughout Victoria lodges were opened in nearly every fledging suburb or city. Many lodges were opened in country areas; the history books show that through the gold mining areas and rural centres, lodges were opening at great rates.
